PROBLEM
- overflowing bins created a disturbance for citizens
- bins were collected 4 times a day
- only bins in high traffic areas’ bins required a high collection frequency
SOLUTION
- 76 bins installed with Clean CAPs
- initial data revealed that there were far too many collections
- data showed varying collection requirements for different bins
RESULTS
- 45% collection efficiency increase with bins collected only 1.8 times per day
- 25% increase in operational efficiency: enough time to divert 2 of 8 administrators to perform other work
- not only did the area become cleaner, US$950 was saved per bin, an annual approximate savings of $72,700
