A year ago the largest theme park in Korea, Everland, deployed 150 CleanCUBEs after completing a successful pilot project. Satisfied with Ecube’s smart waste management solution, Everland recently ordered 100 more units. These were installed earlier this week.
Data gathered for a year on CleanCityNetworks (CCN) shows that each 100L CleanCUBE in the park averaged 44 liters of compacted waste per month during low-season months, 263 liters during mid-season months, and 559 liters during their busiest high-season months. It’s important to note that the park is generating more waste than the data shows but due to the CleanCUBE’s compaction feature, the average waste volume recorded on CCN is conspicuously lower. With conventional bins and no data, the park previously had an arbitrary schedule of 2.5 collections per day. With compacting smart bins and data analytics, Everland was able to minimize their waste collections 87% to one collection every 3 days during peak months. On mid and low season months, the park recorded a bigger drop (96%) of one collection every 47.4 days. And in keeping with their highest priority of providing an aesthetically pleasing experience for guests, the park averaged just one overflow incident per month.
A team from Ecube Labs completed the installations over two evenings after the park’s operating hours. The CleanCUBEs were installed late into the night despite the rain and cold weather. As a result, Everland’s total fleet of smart bins is now 252. Visitors to the park will find it difficult to see any remaining conventional bins as nearly all of them have been removed in favor of Ecube’s solar-powered smart bins.
